  9. Two-in-One originates from Germany and initially only a German version of
  10. the program and documentation was available. Thanks to Joe Connor and the
  11. System ST Team an English version is now supported in the UK with my full
  12. permission.
  13.  
  14. Two-in-One is intuitive to use and features On-line help so this
  15. documentation is much smaller than it used to be!

  21. About Two-in-One
  22. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  24. You can start Two-in-One in several different ways:
  25. From a Command line; the GEM Shell is not called and Two-In-One enters
  26. 'Manager' mode where files are automatically archived and unarchived.
  27. Using the drag n drop feature bulit into most desktops; the GEM Shell is
  28. not called and Two-In-One enters 'Manager' mode where files are
  29. automatically archived and unarchived.

  31. Starting Two-in-One directly; the GEM Shell is called which enables a
  32. simple intuitive interface capable of handling LZH, ZIP, ZOO, ARC and ARJ
  33. archives.
  34.  
  35. The output from the archive programs is handled by a GEM Window. Under
  36. MultiTOS and MAG!X, Two-In-One and the archive programs are started in
  37. parallel mode and the output from the archive program handled by the
  38. respective utility, MINIWIN.APP with MultiTOS and VT52.PRG with MAG!X.

  41. The 'Manager' functions
  42. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  44. The following keys can be used in 'Manager' mode:
  45.  
  46. [Shift]: Hold this key down to call the GEM Shell which will appear
  47. pre-loaded with the selected archive.
  48.  
  49. [Alternate]: Hold this key down to create a folder with the same name as
  50. the archive into which the archive will be unpacked.
  51.

  53. Supported archive formats
  54. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  56. LHARC: Versions >=2.20 of LHarc programmed by Christian Grunenberg are
  57.        supported. From V2.30 password support is included.
  58.  
  59. ZIP:   Versions >=2.0 of STZip programmed by Vincent Pomey are supported.
  60.  
  61. ZOO:   Versions >=2.0 of ZOO adapted for the ST by Gereon Steffens.
  62.  
  63. ARC:   I've tested Two-In-One with V6.02. Unfortunately some of the
  64.        options detailed in the documentation don't function as described
  65.        and other options don't appear to be implemented...
  66.  
  67. UNARJ: Versions >=2.41 of UNARJ are supported. This is the first version
  68.        to offer sensible parameters for handling archives. Other UNARJ
  69.        programs are no longer supported. The documentation supplied with
  70.        this software is confused and badly structured, just what you'd
  71.        expect from MS-DOS-software.
  72.  
  73. It's quite likely that Two-In-One will not perform flawlessly with other
  74. (mostly earlier) versions of the archive programs listed above. If you
  75. experience problems with either Two-In-One or any of the supported
  76. archive programs please let me know.

  79. Other stuff you should know
  80. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

  82.  -All new features will not necessarily be detailed here. Take a look in
  83.   the file TWOINONE.NEW for details of the latest revisions.
  84.  
  85.  -TWOINONE.CFG contains the options for the individual archive programs.
  86.   You can change these using a text editor but be careful not to change
  87.   the lines which begin with '#'. Additionally it's important not to enter
  88.   more than 26 options per archive program!
  89.  
  90.  -To use Two-In-One in 'Manager' mode from the desktop/GEMINI it's
  91.   important to bear in mind the following:
  92.   As a default path you should normally use the path of the archive. As an
  93.   expert option you could, for example, take the path of the top window,
  94.   as a default. In this case the active path must come from Gemini and not
  95.   Two-In-One. You can set this from within Gemini using the following
  96.   option: 'setenv TWOINONE_PRG "D:N"' or 'setenv OPT_TWOINONE_PRG "D:N"'
  97.   Incidentally, on starting Two-In-One the Directory window displays the
  98.   current directory, and ignores whatever directory the Shell would
  99.   otherwise look for.

  101.  -If you install Two-in-One using the built-in Atari desktop be sure to
  102.   set the 'Full path' option in the 'Install application' dialog under
  103.   the Parameter setting.
  104.  
  105.  -The menu shortcuts can easily be changed using a Resource file editor
  106.   (eg Interface).
  107.  
  108.  -Ghost dialogs: Hold down either [Shift] key or the right mouse button
  109.   and click on the Flying Dial corner to make it 'invisible'. This is
  110.   useful, for example, to view the main Two-In-One window under a Help
  111.   dialog.
  112.  
  113.  -Currently Two-In-One can display up to 3000 files per archive with a
  114.   maximum of 1024 files in any folder. If you try to display a drive or
  115.   archive exceeding the limits a dialog appears to let you know. Dynamic
  116.   handling of these limits is planned for a future version of Two-In-One.

  119. UK Support and Registration

  122. Two-In-One is Shareware and may be freely distributed for non-commercial
  123. purposes. If you use Two-In-One regularly you are honour bound to pay a
  124. Shareware fee of DM 20 to the author.
  125.  
  126. Two-In-One is NOT a Freeware Program! PD libraries, magazines or any other
  127. organisations may only distribute Two-In-One with my written permission.
  128. Any contravention of my wishes will be strongly challenged.

  147. Registered UK users can obtain the latest English Version from Joe Connor
  148. at any time, free of charge, by sending a Stamped Addressed Envelope
  149. enclosing a formatted floppy disk. The Shareware fee for Two-In-One is
  150.  9.00 which you can register in the UK as follows:

  152. a) Make a cheque for  9.00 payable to J Connor.
  153. b) Be sure to include your name in the form you wish it to appear in the
  154.    Registered user dialog.
  155. c) Send cheque to: 65 Mill Road, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5LJ, England.

  157. After registration you will be Emailed or posted your personal 'Key' which
  158. you need to keep safe to update future versions.
